Saturday 22nd of April - Tarvin Village Clean - 2 Sacks
This week it was time for the Tarvin village clean. I was asked if I could take part by Rob from Tarvin Parish Council but unfortunately, I couldn’t join the group as I was working in Citrus; one of my businesses.
As it turns out, it was a feeble showing yet again from the residents of Tarvin, only 5 people turned out and 2 of those were council members. Pretty disgusting but the council has a large part to play in that as they didn’t even decide the date until 2 weeks prior and then didn’t advertise it, as always.
Fantastic news for Oscroft though, 16 people got involved which is incredible! Partly because they have a village WhatsApp group so they are all talking to each other all of the time which is fantastic.
Well done Oscroft!
Despite the fact the clean just took place, I promised I would go out and I did. I did the ‘loop’ again and managed to find another 2 sacks of rubbish.
I had a great chat with Olive in Oscroft on my way round too, a lovely lady who explained to me, the trail of Stella cans from Kelsall to Tarvin is a game to a bunch of lads. depending on where the can ends up gets a different score, when they drive by. On the hedge, over the hedge, in the ditch, all scores a different value! How sad.
Nancy went out the following day in Tarvin and also got another sack.
I think it’s clear to see that the residents of Tarvin are not connected with the village or the council. Our local parish council need to do a lot more to engage with the villagers.
I will be going out again next weekend as it is bank holiday and I have a couple of extra hours where I can get out and do my bit.

Can you Help?
I am proud to live where I do and I am also proud to be collecting this rubbish in my own time but it is more than a one-man job. We need a coordinated team effort which is permanent and sustained. If you could volunteer or help me raise funds for tools, please, click the button…
