April 8th - 3 sacks & e Cigarettes/Vaping: a fire risk waiting to happen
Today, both Nancy and I were out litter picking, well, I was out today and Nancy is out litter picking near me tomorrow. Over the same weekend, Nancy covered some of the same route as me less than 24 hours later and still got another sack, that speed of littering is ridiculous.
Either way, thats 3 sacks less that are on the streets. I had a run earlier in the week and I noticed the build up along Bye Pass Road on the field side of the road so I made it my mission to include that in my route
One thing which I have come across is a vast number of these so-called ‘disposable’ e cigarettes or vaping sticks.
'Disposable' vapes and e cigarettes are NOT disposable
If you discard your empty e-cig into a hedge or grass verge, it forms a great risk of causing a wild fire.
In the summer months, that vegetation becomes parched and dry, the battery in the stick will heat up in the sunshine until it reaches such a temperature where it may explode; a mini bomb going off by the side of the road, setting fire to dry scrub and foliage, destroying wildlife habitats and endangering the countryside.
Look at how many so called disposable e cigarettes I have collected this week alone!! This is beyond a joke, not only are these things a waste of plastic, the encourage underage smoking, the flavours make people smoke who never previously would have but also, the fire risk is just the icing on the cake.
